Fireworks is a graphic program for Web design that allows the completion of a variety of tasks without having to jump from one graphic program to another. Since there is not an option for CMYK colors, Fireworks in not a print program like other graphic software. Creating an auto slices in fireworks is a convenient way to divide a design for the Web. Slices allow designers to build blocks for creating Web interactivity. They are Web objects that will eventually become HTML code.

Instructions

      Open Fireworks and click on Fireworks Documents (PNG) to create a new file. Alternatively, click on "File," then "New" from the main menu.

      Create your design as desired. To use Fireworks vector options, like creating a rectangle, click on the "Rectangle" from the vector area of the tool bar. Drag it across the stage to create a rectangle.

      Import images to the stage by clicking on "File," "Import," browsing to the image, and clicking "Open."

      Select all images to slice. Right-click and choose "Insert Rectangle Slice." If you have more than one image, a pop-up box will ask for "Single" or "Multiple." Choose "multiple" to slice create more than one slice or "single" to create one slice of all the images.
