How to Form a Gang in "GTA San Andreas" for PS2
After a certain event in the main storyline of "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," C.J., the main protagonist, acquires the ability to recruit gang members into his group. Traveling with a gang allows you to initiate gang war events, in which city territory is battled over against rival gangs. A gang also provides backup while C.J. roams throughout the city of San Andreas, offering a level of protection from hostiles.

Search for a gang member on the streets of San Andreas. Green-clad gang members are the only ones that can be recruited.

Press the "R1" button to target the gang member. C.J.'s perspective will lock on the gang member. If the gang member is near other people and the wrong person has been targeted, press the "R2" button to cycle through available targets until the gang member is selected.

Press the "Up" button on the directional pad to recruit the member into your gang.

Repeat steps one to three until your gang is full.

Tips & Warnings
Press the "Down" button on the directional pad to order the gang members to stop following you. Press the "Up" button to order them to follow.
The maximum number of gang members that you can recruit depends on your respect level. Raise your respect level (and maximum number of gang members) by completing missions, taking over city territory or dressing in impressive clothes.
Recruited gang members will automatically enter any car that you're driving.
Some missions will not allow your gang to accompany you and the gang members will automatically be removed from the party.
