How to Make a Solid Gel
Gel air fresheners are ideal housewarming or special occasion gifts. By making the solid gel air freshener at home, you can personalize color and scent to accommodate personal style and preference. Unlike scented candles, no flame is required. Just take the jar's lid off to release fragrance.
Things You'll Need
- Jar - any size or style
- Whisk
- Wooden Spoon
- Cooking Pot
- Measuring Cups and Spoons
- Food Coloring
- 1 package unflavored gelatin (1 cup prepared)
- Scent oil
- Witch Hazel

Measure out 3/4 cup of water. Pour in cooking pot and bring to boil.

Add package of gelatin to boiling water. Whisk until gelatin is completely dissolved. Remove pot from heat. Add 1/4 cup cold water to cooking pot.

Add ten drops of food coloring to the mixture and stir. Add 6 tsp. of scented oil to mixture. Stir well.

Measure out 1 oz. witch hazel and add to mixture. Witch hazel will inhibit mildew and mold growth.

Pour mixture into a jar. Avoid pouring any of the oil residue that is at the bottom of the pan into the jar.

Allow mixture to settle for five minutes. Place jar in refrigerator until the liquid turns into a solid gel.
