How to Convert a TIFF to PSD
Opening an image in a file format such as a TIFF in the Adobe Photoshop software sets up the document for converting into the PSD, or Photoshop document, format. Although Photoshop does not require that you convert a file to PSD, converting to PSD gives you the opportunity to re-save the document with layers. Converting a TIFF to PSD is the same process as saving other kinds of image files and does not harm the integrity of the original TIFF, so you'll always be able to access it.

Tips & Warnings
The main benefit of the PSD format is that it allows users to preserve layers, which means your image need not only have one single flat layer. To add and experiment with layers, use the "Layers" palette on the right side of the screen.
