How to Use an Explorer NT4 Keyboard

Windows NT4 is an operating system developed by the Microsoft Corporation after the popular Windows 95 operating system. The Explorer keyboard is a specially designed keyboard that has several buttons along the top to easily allow you to access certain functions such as Internet controls and multimedia functions. In order to use the special keys on the Explorer, you must know what their individual purposes are and what will happen when you press them.

      Insert the provided installation disc into your CD tray and close it. When the installation screen appears, click on the "Install Drivers" button to continue. You must install all of the drivers on this disc in order to use some of the functions with your Windows NT4 operating system. Follow the onscreen instructions and click "Finished" when prompted.

      Press the "Sleep" button at anytime to put your computer into sleep mode. This is a special power saving mode that you can use when you are not planning on using the computer for an extended period of time but want to leave it on for later use. Press any button on the keyboard or move your mouse to exit sleep mode.

      Press the "Web/Home" button to open up "Internet Explorer" to access the Internet and use the Internet controls on your keyboard. Press the "Back" button to move back to the previous page you were on or the "Forward" button to move forward a page. Pressing the "Web/Home" button again will take you back to your home page.

      Press the "Stop" button to stop the current page from loading if it is taking too long to load. Press the "Favorites" button to open up your list of favorites and select a site to visit. Press the "Email" button to open up your default email program such as Microsoft Outlook.

      Open a media player such as Windows Media Player to use the multimedia controls. Pressing the "Mute" button mutes sound while the "Volume" buttons can increase and decrease the volume of your computer. Press "Play/Pause" to start or pause playback and the "Stop" button to stop it completely. Press the "Next/Previous" buttons to skip to the next track or go back to the previous one.
