How to Know If I Have WiFi 3G on a Nook

The Nook is an electronic book reader developed and marketed by Barnes & Noble. The device allows the user to read digital editions of newspapers, magazines and books. Several versions of the Nook are available, including the Nook 3G+Wi-Fi, a version that comes with free access to AT&T's mobile 3G network and can also connect to a Wi-Fi network. If you are unsure which Nook model you have, you can look for several identifying features to find out if you have the Nook 3G+Wi-Fi version.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip the Nook face down and inspect the back panel. By default, Nook 3G+Wi-Fi devices have a dark gray back panel; the standard Nook has a white back panel.

    • 2

Press the "Power" button on the top edge of the Nook to turn on the device.

    • 3

Look in the upper bar along the top of the screen and locate the 3G cellular signal strength icon. This icon resembles a set of four cellphone bars and is located to the left of the Wi-Fi signal strength icon (which resembles a set of four waves transmitting upward). If your Nook has the 3G cellular signal strength icon, then it is the 3G+Wi-Fi model.
