Clean off tacky edges of earrings so they'll look nicer on your ears.

When you wear a pair of earrings often or when you leave earrings in your ears for an extended period of time, a tacky edge might build up around both the part of the earring that is visible and the part you place in your ear. Tacky edges might build up on the earring back as well. You can get these tacky edges off your earrings in several ways. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the earrings from your ears and remove the backs from the earrings.

    • 2

Place the earrings and the backs into a small cup or bowl full of hydrogen peroxide. Let them sit for up to five minutes. Many times, this will be enough to remove the tacky edges and buildup.

    • 3

Use a Q-tip dipped in hydrogen peroxide to remove any other tacky edges. If this won't remove them, try prying them off with your fingernails. If the edges are too stuck on, this will not work either; it is then best to consult a jewelry dealer or professional cleaner.
