How to Decorate a White Getaway Car for a Wedding
The wedding party commonly take it upon themselves to decorate the newlywed's getaway vehicle with streamers, ribbons and messages that announce the nuptials to the world. While most of the decorations are a traditional and kind gesture to the new couple, some can leave behind scratched paint jobs and others can be dangerous. You can embellish the vehicle with a variety of different decorations to share in the excitement of the bride and groom while keeping the vehicle in good condition afterwards.
Things You'll Need
- White shoe polish
- Cardstock or poster board
- Scotch tape
- Tulle ribbon rosettes (or streamer rosettes)
- Long twist ties
- Flower arrangement
- String
- Plastic bottles

Write messages on the side windows of the vehicle. Use white shoe polish for a paint that will wash off easily without damaging the windows or the car's paint. Write messages, such as "Just Married," "Newlyweds," "Lovebirds" or "Just Hitched" on each side window. Make the letters large enough to see but small enough that the words will not impair the driver's vision in traffic.

Cut a large heart shape from a piece of cardstock or poster board and write the words "Just Married" on the center of the heart. Use scotch tape to attach the heart to the back of the car, just above the license plate. Use The scotch tape will pull off the vehicle later without damaging the paint.

Attach tulle ribbon or streamer rosettes. Use scotch tape to attach a row of the rosettes around the trunk of the vehicle. Attach a row of the rosettes up each side of the car and around the front bumper.

Hook four or five long twist ties through the underside of a flower arrangement. Attach the twist ties to the front grill of the car. Hook two twist ties through the underside of large flower corsages and attach the twist ties to the door handles of the vehicle.

Cut five or six 4-foot-long pieces of string. Tie the end of one piece of string to the top of one plastic bottle. Repeat with each piece of string and plastic bottle. Tie the other ends of the string together and tie the string to the bumper of the car.

Tips & Warnings
When the getaway vehicle is rented, discuss your decorating plans with the service provider ahead of time.
While tin cans are a traditional wedding car adornment, they can create sparks. Create a similar send off using the plastic bottles tied to string for a safe and happy send off for the newlyweds.
