How to Give the Best Fingerprint Impressions
Fingerprinting has long been used as a way to establish identity. Although other characteristics may change over time, fingerprints do not. In modern society, an increasing number of individuals are being fingerprinted. Earlier, fingerprinting was only reserved for people who had committed a crime; today, more professions are requiring that their employees be fingerprinted. Fingerprinting is often no longer a messy process that left you with ink-stained fingertips. With the digital era and advanced technology, fingerprinting is as simple as touching a computer screen in most jurisdictions. Electronic fingerprints are often preferred because you can receive immediate results, and they are just as effective as the traditional ink fingerprints.

1
Wash your hands and dry them completely before you are fingerprinted. Make sure your hands are free of lotion or debris.
-
2
Allow the fingerprint technician or police officer to place your finger on the live scan electronic device or in the ink. He will maneuver your finger to obtain the best impression.
-
-
3
Roll your finger slowly on the live scan or on your fingerprint card. Your finger should roll from one side to the other. The fingerprint technician will place as much pressure on your finger as needed.
-
4
Continue the process with each finger and your thumbs, if necessary. Most of the time, you will need all of your digits printed; however, imaging one digit or all digits will depend on the reasons for your fingerprints. The technician will guide your fingers and place the necessary pressure on each finger.

5
Delete the image if it is was not captured properly. For the electronic live scan process, the fingerprint technician can delete any fingerprint images that were illegible and take a new impression while you are still in the room.
