Add an HTML table to a thread post to display your text, images and data.

Embedding a table designed in HTML code into a forum post or a social network discussion thread is a convenient way to display data, particularly if you have created the table in Web design software and you want to reproduce it accurately in the thread post. Some forums, social networks and discussion boards allow users to format posts with HTML code, but others do not support this feature. Embed an HTML table in a thread post by copying the code for the table and pasting it into the message body in HTML mode.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Notepad or your preferred Web design program or HTML editing software.

    • 2

Click "File" in the top menu. Click "Open" and open the HTML document that contains the table you want to copy.

    • 3

Find the table in the document's HTML code. Click and highlight all of the code and text between the opening "<table>" tag and the closing "</table>" tag of the selected table. Press "Ctrl" and "C" on your keyboard to copy the table to your Windows clipboard.

    • 4

Log in to the forum or social network discussion board on which you want to post the HTML table.

    • 5

Click the "New Post" or "New Comment" button under an existing thread to create a new thread post. The post editor opens.

    • 6

Click the "HTML" or "Code" link or button above the post editor input field. You will usually find this with the toolbar that contains the font formatting options and picture insert tool.

    • 7

Paste the copied HTML table code into the input field. The table should now display in the thread post in the same way it would on a Web page. Click the "Post" or "Submit" button to add your post to the message thread.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you cannot find an HTML or code posting option, the forum might not offer this feature. Some online forums block HTML posts to prevent Web spam, while others limit this feature to trustworthy users and regular contributors.
