How to Use a Rusty Key in "Dead Frontier"
"Dead Frontier" is a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game that allows users to choose from over 20 classes, including farmer, chef, police officer, etc., and kill as many zombies as possible. Like many MMOs, the game updates periodically with new items and quest opportunities. The rusty key is available as a drop item, but as of July 2011, it still does not have a purpose. There is speculation among the "Dead Frontier" user community that the key and other similar items are essential to keep for the future, while others believe its only value is as scrap.

Collect the rusty key when you find it as a drop item. The drop is random, but you can often find it on the corpse of a larger green zombie. Take out as many zombies as possible and you will eventually find the key.

Click "Yes" when prompted to save the item in your inventory. Once saved, you can access the key by clicking "Inventory & Equipment" from the right-side menu. The key uses one of the fourteen spots in your inventory. You can sell the key as scrap if you do not want to keep it.

Sell the key by opening the outpost map and clicking on "The Yard." Drag the rusty key into the "Scrap" bin to earn $8.

Tips & Warnings
The other seemingly useless items are the severed hand and the Secronom key card, which you can also sell for scrap at $18 and $25, respectively.
