How to Use Mica Gold in Fused Projects
Mica Gold is a type of metallic powder that is used to decorate fused glass projects. The metallic gold powder adds color and glittery sparkle to your glass. Once the mica gold powder is mixed in a solution made with clean burning glass glue and alcohol, it is painted onto the surface of the fused glass. When fired up in a kiln, the glass melts and the mica sticks to it.

Add 2 tsp. mica gold, 1 tsp. clean burning glass glue and 1 tsp. alcohol together in a plastic paint bottle. Put the cap on the paint bottle and shake it well to mix the materials.

Paint the desired pattern onto your glass with the mica gold solution and a paint brush. Wait 10 minutes or until dry, then apply another coat of the mica gold solution. Apply three coats in total before firing. The mica gold powder will start to settle on the bottom of the paint bottle, so shake it often while applying.

Insert the glass project into your kiln. Fire up the kiln to 1380 degrees Fahrenheit. Hold for one minute, then start to slowly decrease the temperature in the kiln. The Mica powder will stick to the glass upon reaching fusing temperatures. It will not melt.

Cool the fused glass to room temperature. Rinse off the excess mica from the glass with water to remove any that did not stick during the firing process.
