How to Install a Profanity Filter
While a number of different companies offer products and services designed to filter profanity and other potentially offensive materials from television shows and movies, few services exist for individual Internet users. Most profanity filtering services designed for use on the Internet are products designed to work with a particular website or group of websites. Fortunately, it is possible to filter profanity on an individual computer using both commercial software and freely available software and scripts.

Download and install the Firefox browser. The browser is compatible with a large number of operating systems and is available free of charge from Mozilla.

Navigate to the Mozilla Add-Ons page and download the Greasemonkey plug-in. Click the "Download Now" button on the page and follow the directions. The plug-in will allow Firefox to run the profanity script directly from the browser.

Load the profanity filter from the Userscripts website. Click on the green "Install" button located on the top right-hand corner of the site. The Greasemonkey program will automatically load and install the script. Greasemonkey will confirm that the script is set to run on all website and then automatically run the script whenever a Web page is loaded.
Net Nanny

Navigate to the Net Nanny website and click on the "Products" link at the top of the page.

Create a new user account when prompted on the next screen. Check the email for the address entered during registration and click on the "Activate" link in the message in order to activate to the account.

Click on the "Download" link displayed on the Net Nanny page that opens. The installation software will automatically start downloading to the computer.

Double-click the downloaded software to launch the installation wizard. Select a location for the software to be installed on the computer and follow on the directions to complete the installation process.
Safe Eyes

Navigate to the Safe Eyes website and click on the "Download" menu at the top of the page.

Enter the username and password associated with the Safe Eyes account and click "Log In."

Download the installation program by clicking on the link provided. Double-click on the installation software to launch the installation wizard.

Complete the installation process by choosing an installation location and following the instructions.
