How to Donate Excess Fruit
Fruit is a vital part of a nutritious diet. Two to three servings of fruit are recommended daily. Food banks, community service organizations and soup kitchens depend on donations to provide food to those in need. Economically challenged families are often unable to afford fresh fruit and rely on less expensive processed food for the main component of their diet. Fresh fruit donations can help underprivileged families maintain a healthy and well balanced diet.

1
Contact your local church, food bank, shelter or soup kitchen. Offer your excess fruit to provide meals to the homeless or financially underprivileged. Administrators of the organizations will arrange for the drop off or pick up of your donation.

2
Contact a local orchard for a list of organizations that are in need of excess fruit. Local orchards often work with community leaders in organizing donations of their excess fruit.

3
Donate fruit directly from the grower. If you have weekly delivery of fruit to your home or business, the grower can assist you in donating excess fruit. If your office is closed or you are on vacation, arrange to have your weekly shipment donated directly to a service organization.
