How to Check PIF Files on a Computer
A PIF file creates a shortcut command on older Windows operating systems such as Windows 98 and 95. Newer Windows operating systems use the "LNK" file extension, but the older shortcuts had the "PIF" file extension. To check a PIF file, you first look at the file properties, then double-click the file to ensure that the proper program opens on the desktop.
