How to Make a Rabbit Fold
The rabbit fold (also known as the rabbit-ear fold or the fish-base fold) is an essential origami fold. Mastering the rabbit allows you to move on to other exciting origami creations. For instance, most origami fish are created by using two rabbit folds. The rabbit is also needed to make other origami creatures, such as cats, dragons and ladybugs. Learning to make the rabbit fold takes some patience at first, but with enough practice, anybody can master the rabbit fold.

1
Start off by folding your square piece of paper in half diagonally to form a crease. You'll use this crease as a sort of guide for the rest of the folding process.
-
2
Make a valley fold (fold the paper towards yourself) from the far edge to the center crease. Crease it well, then unfold and let it rest.
-
-
3
Now make another valley fold towards the center crease, but do it from the other side of the far edge. Now you should have two valley folds (one left and one right) from the far edge to the center crease. Crease it and unfold.
-
4
Pinch the center of the paper together, where the two valley folds meet. You should get a little triangle sticking upwards. This is your completed rabbit-ear fold or fish-base fold.
