How to Catch a Pokemon Blue
The central concept of the video game "Pokemon" is simple: you capture monsters called pokemons, train them by making them fight other Pokemon, and use them to battle Pokemon belonging to other players. Some Pokemon are easier to capture than others, but the basic capture process is the same for all Pokemon; first you damage a wild Pokemon, then you throw a pokeball at it, and the more injured they are, the more likely they are to be successfully captured.
Instructions

1
Encounter a wild Pokemon in tall grass, water, a forest, or a cave.
-
2
Use your Pokemon to injure the enemy as much as possible without making it faint. Inflict status problems (such as sleep, freezing, or paralysis) if you can do so without making the wild Pokemon faint.

3
Throw a capture ball (such as a pokeball) at the Pokemon; if the ball stops shaking, then you've successfully captured it. Damage the Pokemon further (or throw another ball) if it escapes the ball.

Tips & Warnings
Inflicting status conditions can greatly increase the chances of capturing a Pokemon. Sleep and freezing are best, but since freezing is hard to inflict, putting the enemy to sleep is the most practical way.
More expensive capture balls have a higher success rate at capturing Pokemon. If you're going against a Pokemon that heavily resists capture, use Great Balls or Ultra Balls instead of cheap pokeballs.
Very strong Pokemon may be unable to harm an enemy without accidentally making it faint. Either use Pokemon closer to the level of the Pokemon that you're trying to catch, or use moves that have fixed damage outputs.
Some weaker Pokemon can be easily captured even at full HP if you use better capture balls. This is useful if your Pokemon team is much stronger than the Pokemon you want to capture. It's even possible for a lowly pokeball to capture a legendary Pokemon at full HP; the odds are just very low.
