DIY Just Married Signs
A customary way to send off a newly married couple is to dress up their "getaway" car with a sign announcing their nuptials. If you're in a bridal party, or if a friend or family member is tying the knot, keep this tradition alive by creating your own "Just Married" sign. With a few basic craft supplies, you can create a sign that will let the world -- or the local town, at least -- know that the happy couple has just taken the plunge.

Just Married Hearts
-
1
Draw two 24- to 30-inch hearts on poster board with a marker. Use a ruler to guide your measurements. Choose a color of poster board that corresponds with the wedding's color scheme.
-
2
Cut out the two hearts with a pair of scissors. Lay them side-by-side so that their inner edges overlap slightly, either straight or at an angle, or one slightly higher than the other. Experiment to see what looks best.
-
-
3
Glue the hearts together where they overlap.
-
4
Print the words "Just" on the first heart and "Married" on the second heart with paint and a paintbrush. Choose a paint color that stands out against the poster board.
-
5
Cut four 8- to 12-inch strips of crepe paper streamers. Glue four streamers to the bottom and back of each heart. Use a single-color streamer or a combination of colors that complement the wedding's scheme.
-
6
Attach the hearts to the car's back window with tape in the center or off to one side.
Block Letters
-
7
Cut out 11 10-inch-by-10-inch squares from poster board. Choose a color of poster board that corresponds with the wedding's color scheme.
-
8
Use paint and a paintbrush to write the individual letters of "Just Married" on each square. For example, print "J" on one square, "U" on another and so on, until each letter of the two words are printed out.
-
9
Attach the squares on the back of the getaway car with tape so that they spell out the words "Just Married." You can line the letters straight across, place them at angles to each other, or arrange them in an arch or another configuration that is visually pleasing.
