How to Adjust a D-Link Router
D-link routers, like most, are configurable through a browser-based application. The console application runs in any browser, so it is compatible with multiple operating systems. You must use the application to set up the D-link router for the first time or when you want to change existing settings on the router.

1
Open a Web browser and type the IP address of the router in the navigation text box. The default IP for a new router is "192.168.1.1." Type the admin username and password in the login screen. The default D-link username and password for some routers are "admin" and "admin"; others use "admin" and no password or another combination. Check your manual if neither works.

2
Click the "Setup Wizard" button to start the configuration, if this is a new setup for the router. The router console application detects the best setup for your router configuration and sets up the IP address and Internet settings on the network.

Click the "Wireless" tab at the top. This window displays all of the wireless settings, such as the passkey and network ID for wireless users to connect. You can change each of these values. If you change the network ID (SSID), you must reconnect wireless users.

Click the "Status" tab. This tab displays the current configurations for the router. You can review the router's status to ensure that it is connected and routing your network traffic.
