How to Put Together a Multi Color Hexagon Eraser
Polymer clay is available in a special formulation that will create sturdy erasers. The clay is found and craft supply stores and benefits from a hardening process that does not require a kiln, just a kitchen oven. This craft project will teach young children over the age of 5 about making the special shape of a hexagon while creating a useful school supply. A trip to the craft shop to pick out their favorite colors of clay could also be a part of the project.

1
Set the font on a computer's word processing program to Wingdings, and type the capital letter Y. Set the font size to 150. This will make a six-pointed star shape. Print it out and use a ruler and pencil to connect the star points to make the hexagon. Trace the hexagon on the Mylar sheet and cut it out with the scissors.

2
Roll each color of clay into a snake shape with the diameter of a pencil. Press each snake to the other snakes to make one wide snake.
-
-
3
Cut off a 1-inch slab of the snake with the serrated knife.
-
4
Place the Mylar hexagon over the flat side of the slab. Cut through the slab with the serrated knife at the hexagon edges.
-
5
Place the multicolored hexagon on a cookie sheet and bake it in a 175-degree Fahrenheit oven for 20 minutes. Let the complete hexagon eraser cool for 10 minutes before removing it from the cookie sheet.
