How to Reload SSH in Karmic

When you make updates to the OpenSSH server in Ubuntu Karmic, you will need to reload the SSH server for changes to fully take effect. You can reload SSH using the "restart" command. You will not need to restart your SSH Server like you would with other types of servers as it merely acts as an access point. Once restarted, the server will begin running any settings changes you have made.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Terminal" link on the desktop.

    • 2

Type "sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart" (without the quotes). Press "Enter."

    • 3

Enter your password and press "Enter." This reloads the server and completes the task. Close the Terminal if you want, or continue using it.
