How to Add Coolant to a 2007 PT Cruiser
In 2001, Chrysler released a new vehicle, the PT Cruiser, which combined three types of vehicles into one: car, minivan and SUV. In 2006, Chrysler refreshed the PT Cruiser's look, but maintained its basic style. The refresh included new headlight assemblies and a more modern grille insert. The 2007 PT Cruiser had two 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines available, a normally aspirated and a turbocharged version. Checking and adding engine coolant to the 2007 PT Cruiser is an important task that all PT Cruiser owners should know how to do.
Things You'll Need
- 50-50 premixed Mopar coolant with hybrid organic additive technology, or equivalent
Instructions
-
-
1
Open the PT Cruiser's hood and find the coolant overflow reservoir in the rear of the engine compartment -- the yellow-capped bottle near the center on the non-turbo engine and near the passenger's side on the turbocharged PT Cruiser.
-
2
Pull the coolant reservoir's cap upward to open the reservoir. Start the PT Cruiser's engine and add 50-50 premixed Mopar coolant with hybrid organic additive technology, or equivalent, until it reaches the "Full Hot" mark on the reservoir.
-
-
3
Allow the engine to reach operating temperature -- about halfway up the temperature gauge. Add more coolant to the reservoir each time the coolant level drops below the "Full Hot" level.
-
4
Shut the engine off and press the coolant overflow reservoir cap downward until it snaps into place once the coolant level remains steady at the "Full Hot" level.

Tips & Warnings
Engine coolant is highly toxic, so keep it away from children and animals.
