"Grand Theft Auto IV" (GTA IV) is an open-world game in which your character, Niko Bellic, has freedom to do what he wants between missions. You can browse the in-game Internet, shop for new clothes or rob these stores for money. However, not every store can be robbed. Only the clothing stores and Internet cafes can be robbed, and they are located on your map as an icon of a T-shirt and a computer, respectively. To rob a store, a firearm is required.
Enter any clothing store or Internet cafe in the game and approach the cash register.
Point your firearm at the employee behind the counter. The employee raises his hands in the air and backs away from the register. If you shoot the employee, the alarm instantly sounds and the police are notified.
Stand next to the cash register and press the button displayed in the top left corner of the screen to steal the money inside the register. Once the money is stolen, the alarm sounds, regardless of whether or not you shot the employee earlier. The amount of money you gain varies, based on the type of store robbed.
Exit the store before the police arrive. The police shoot on sight once you have robbed a store. However, if you exit the store quick enough, you can avoid a confrontation.
