How to Minimize the Top Bar in Firefox

Mozilla Firefox minimizes the size of its top bar by hiding less frequently used toolbars. However, you may be able to reduce it further by altering the settings in Firefox. Maximizing the window, hiding other toolbars or customizing the toolbars will allow you to reduce the clutter. By minimizing the top bar, you also maximize the browsing area to display more of a website without scrolling.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Mozilla Firefox and click the "Maximize" icon, which is the square icon that appears immediately to the left of the corner "X" button. This moves all tabs into the title bar, eliminating the title bar entirely. If the tabs are already situation at the top edge of Firefox, the window is already maximized.

    • 2

Press the "Alt" key to temporarily expose the menu bar, if it's not already visible. This will widen the top bar, but only long enough to access other settings.

    • 3

Click "View." Point to "Toolbars" and uncheck any toolbar you wish to hide, such as the "Menu Bar," "Navigation Bar" or "Bookmarks Bar."

    • 4

Click "View," and point to "Toolbars" and click "Customize." Drag and drop icons from the toolbar onto the "Customize" window to remove them. Drag and drop entire toolbars to the bottom to reduce the size of the top bar. Click "Done" when complete.

    • 5

Press "F11" to enter full-screen mode, which auto-hides all toolbars until you move your mouse pointer to the top of the screen. Press "F11" again to toggle full screen mode off.
