Open a Web browser of your choice. Enter "http://gateway.2wire.net" in the address bar and press "Enter."

Click "System" in the list of tabs at the top of the page. Click "System Password" in the System screen.

Click "Enable." Then type the password you want in the two fields provided. Input a hint to remind you of your password in the last empty field. Click "Save" to store the settings.

Enter the system password you created when prompted. The system requires the password with every change you make to the configuration, though you don't need to enter it when you access the panel.
