While skiing backward on two trick skis, low-bounce and spin 180 so that you are skiing forward.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately challenging

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Ski backward on two skis. (See "How to Perform a Front-to-Back 180 on Two Water Skis.") Keep low in your vertical crouch position.
Step2
Low-bounce gently, getting ready for your turning bounce.
Step3
Release your right hand from the handle as you begin to bounce up.
Step4
Lead your body into a turn with your head turning to the left. Keep your head up.
Step5
Turn 180 quickly to the left, following the lead of your head. You should be halfway through your turn at the high point of your bounce.
Step6
Grasp the handle with your right hand as you land facing forward.

Tips & Warnings

  • Stay low throughout your turn.
  • Keep the handle close to your body.
  • Back to front is easier than front to back because you are going from an unfamiliar position to a familiar one.
  • Always wear a life vest when waterskiing.
  • Waterskiing is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
