How to Turn on the Reserve Tank on a Seadoo

Save

The reserve tank on a Seadoo jet ski acts as a secondary gas tank. When the jet ski runs out of fuel, the reserve tank can be turned on and used until the primary fuel tank can be refilled with fuel. Always switch the primary tank to the reserve tank before the primary tank is completely empty. This will prevent any fuel sediments that have settled to the bottom of the tank from getting into the fuel system.

Things You'll Need

  • Seadoo
  • Ensure that the ignition key is in the off position.

  • Locate the reserve fuel tank valve on the right-hand side of the Seadoo body. The the valve is attached to the body of the jet ski underneath the right hand handle bar. The valve will have "Res" stamped on one side of it. The "Res" stands for "Reserve".

  • Turn the valve handle until it is in the reserve position. The fuel valve handle should have an arrow imprinted on one end of it. Ensure that the arrow is pointing toward the "Res" position.

  • Turn the ignition key to the accessory position for about 10 seconds so that the fuel pump can pick up the fuel out of the reserve tank. Crank the engine.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always familiarize yourself with the Seadoo owners manual before operating the machine.
  • Never smoke or use open flames around any type of a fuel source.
