How Do I Bring My Toolbar Up if I Lost It?

Browsers offer toolbars to condense many options into a few, easy to access locations. Toolbars typically appear at the top of a browser window and consist of options such as "Tools" and "Bookmarks." When Internet browsers were first released, toolbars were not as flexible as they are now. In 2011, browsers offer you the opportunity of hiding your toolbars if you wish, which can cause problems if you do not want to hide them but do so accidentally.

Instructions

Open the browser you normally use. If the loaded page appears to stretch across your monitor and nothing else appears, such as the search bar, you likely have enabled full screen mode. Press "F11" to disable full screen mode. Your browser's toolbar should once again appear at the top of the screen.

Right-click the area next to an already existing toolbar, if your desired toolbar is missing. The available toolbars will appear, with a checkmark appearing next to the enabled toolbars. To make a toolbar that is disabled visible, simply click it. This will only work with Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Google Chrome does not offer toolbars like those two browsers, as all toolbar-related options are contained within the drop-down menu that appears when you click the wrench icon.

Customize your toolbars to add buttons that are missing. If a button you regularly use appears to have vanished from a toolbar in Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, you can add it by opening the customization menu. For Internet Explorer, click the gear icon at the top right, highlight "Toolbars" and select "Customize." For Mozilla Firefox, open the available toolbar menu by right-clicking an area next to an existing toolbar and click "Customize."
