How to Clean an Iron Filter
Iron filters are often installed in homes where there are high levels of iron to be found in the water. Often water when it is contaminated by iron will have a rancid odor and a discoloring that makes it dangerous to use and drink. The filter is connected to the water system unless you have one exclusively for tap water that relies on a cartridge with the filter inside. 1
Identify the type of filter you have, whether it is for the main water supply or your drinking water. Either call the company or go online and order a new cartridge. A local hardware store might have your one in as well.
-
2
Once the cartridge arrives, remove the previous filter cartridge from your device by following its instruction book. If you do not have the instructions, the chances are there is either a clip you can undo, a screw top at the bottom you can unscrew or if worse comes to worse, you can use a screwdriver to have a look inside to understand where you can replace the cartridge.
