Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Learn to do a back-to-front 180 on two skis (see Related eHow) before you attempt it on one ski. Get comfortable skiing backward on one ski.

  2. Step 2

Use a 75-foot rope and ski backward on one trick ski inside the wake.

  3. Step 3

Stay low in your vertical crouch and begin rhythmic low-bounces.

  4. Step 4

Release your left hand as you come up on your bounce.

  5. Step 5

Lead with your head and spin 180 degrees to the right. Keep your head up and the ski rope close to your body. You should be at least halfway through your spin at the high point of your bounce.

  6. Step 6

Grab the rope handle with your left hand as you come to a forward position, keeping it close to your body throughout the trick.

Tips & Warnings
  • Stay low and keep the rope close to your body. These are the two most important aspects of all spinning tricks.
  • The back-to-front is easier than the front-to-back because you are going from an unfamiliar position to a familiar one.
  • You can practice skiing backward on one ski by doing a front-to-back on two skis and then lifting one ski in a "skier's salute."
  • Always wear a life vest when waterskiing.
  • Waterskiing is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or death. We recommend that you seek proper training and equipment before attempting this activity.
