How to Do a Decoupage Mosaic
When you store personal items in a storage box, you do not want to place your special object sand papers into a plain box that seems generic and boring. Instead, make a handmade box specially decorated for your personal objects. Make the storage box exciting and decorative by creating a colorful decoupage mosaic. 1
Place a blank craft box onto a sheet of newspaper, which will protect your work area from damage as you decorate the box.
-
2
Pour 1/2 cup of white craft glue into a bowl, and add in 1/4 cup of water. Stir the mixture with a spoon for 5 minutes to incorporate the two ingredients together completely.
-
-
3
Cut 1-inch squares out of magazines using scissors. Cut out squares that are colorful or contain images of animals or flowers.
-
4
Paint a layer of diluted craft glue over the entire outside surface of the blank craft box using a paintbrush. Use long, even brushstrokes to create an even layer of diluted glue.
-
5
Place the cut out squares over the glue-covered surface of the blank craft box. Arrange the squares in a visually-pleasing manner. For example, arrange the squares by color.
-
6
Paint a second layer of diluted craft glue over the entire surface of the mosaic craft box. Use the same even brushstrokes as before. Allow the glue to dry for 20 minutes before using it to hold you personal treasures.
