Many career and employment websites provide online search tools to help users find jobs using specific search criteria. Some individuals look only for jobs in certain cities or states, while others search listings by salary. Some people utilize this information to determine whether a potential employer's salary offer is fair or to estimate a particular job's earning potential. If you need to search for a job based exclusively on salary information, check available resources online and in the community.

Instructions

1. Consult reference materials, such as the Occupational Outlook Handbook or the Career Guide to Industries, at a library or bookstore. These resources -- and other career books -- provide helpful information such as job descriptions, background training, educational requirements and salary data.

2. Ask a store clerk or librarian to help you locate any job-related books. Use the book's table of contents or index to help you find data regarding salaries.

3. Go to career-related websites. In addition to salary data, some websites provide job descriptions, educational and work experience requirements and contact information.

4. Find the "Search" toolbar and click the "Advanced Search" option or a similar feature.

5. Click the check mark box beside the minimum and maximum salary range that you would like to see and click "Submit" or "Search." Alternatively, on some websites you can enter the job title and city and state to search for jobs by salary.
