How to Tarp a Load Back to Front With Overlap
A semi-trailer tarp is designed to protect the cargo that the trailer is carrying from rain and other outside elements. A tarp also helps in preventing the load from shifting while the trailer is in motion. If the tarp is not laid out properly over the cargo load, the load could shift. Most all trailer tarps are made with a overlap below the tie-off rings. The overlap acts as a extra piece of tarp that provides extra protection and it can be tucked under the load.
Instructions

1
Place the unrolled tarp at the very front of the load. Position the tarp so it is in the front center of the load.
-
2
Roll out the tarp from the front of the load to the back of the load. Walk to the front of the tarp and roll out the width of the tarp on the driver side and passenger side of the trailer.

3
Inspect the tarp to ensure there is a equal amount of tarp hanging off of both ends of the trailer. If not, position both sides of the tarp so there is an equal amount of tarp hanging off of both sides of the trailer and a overlap that is even with the tie-off rails on each side of the trailer. The tie-off rings should be positioned near the rails on both sides of the trailer. This will give the tarp an overlap between the load and the rails.

4
Insert a bungee cord into each tie-off ring of the tarp on both sides of the tarp. Pull the bungee cords through the rails on the passenger side of the trailer and hook each bungee cord back into the rail.
-
5
Move to the driver side of the tarp. Beginning with the front bungee cord, pull the cord tightly through the rail until the front of the tarp is tight over the front of the load. Hook the bungee cord back into the rail. Move to each driver side bungee cord and repeat the same process. This process allows the passengers side bungee cords to be the tie-off cords and the driver side bungee cords to tighten the tarp over the load.

6
Through the utility straps from the driver side of the trailer over the load to the passenger side of the trailer. Hook each strap to the passenger side rail. Hook the driver side straps and tighten each strap from the driver side of the trailer to finish tightening the tarp and the load to the trailer.
