How to Fix a Firefox Screen on a MacBook

Firefox is an alternative to Apple's native Safari Web browser on the MacBook.

When you surf the Internet with the Firefox browser on your MacBook, a laptop made by Apple, you might set the browser page to fill the entire screen to maximize the viewing area, and then have a problem with the application freezing. Or, you may only see the tabs for each loaded page, but not see the address bar and navigation buttons. If the Firefox page is unresponsive or if you are trying to change how it looks on the screen of your MacBook, you can take steps to fix the problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "View" from the Firefox menu, and then click the "Fullscreen" option if it is checked to deselect it and force the Firefox browser window to show the address bar and navigation controls. When Firefox is set to "Fullscreen" on your MacBook, you only see a row of tabs and the browser window.

    • 2

Click "View," then click "Toolbars," and then click "Navigation Toolbar" to show the navigation controls if they are hidden. Click "View," then "Toolbars," and then click "Bookmarks Toolbar" to see your bookmarks toolbar if it is hidden.

    • 3

Click "Window" from the Firefox menu, and then click "Minimize" if you want to hide the Firefox browser window and see other application or Finder windows on the MacBook's display.

    • 4

Click the Apple logo at the top left of the screen if Firefox is frozen and unresponsive, and then click "Force Quit." A dialog box appears, with "Firefox" automatically selected in the list of applications. Click the "Force Quit" button to exit Firefox. You can also open the "Force Quit" dialog by pressing the "Command," "Option" and "Escape" keys simultaneously on the MacBook's keyboard.

    • 5

Press the "Command," "Option," "Shift" and "Escape" keys simultaneously and hold them for about three seconds to force-quit whatever application is active on your MacBook if you can't force-quit with the "Force Quit" dialog box.
