Instructions

-
1
Wash and dry the T-shirt before painting.
-
2
Iron the T-shirt to ensure a level painting surface with no wrinkles.
-
-
3
Insert a large piece of cardboard between the front and back of the T-shirt. Use tape or pens to make sure the shirt does not move while you paint.
-
4
Use a fabric pencil to draw a bow-tie beneath the collar of the T-shirt. Form this bow tie by making a large circle in the center with two triangles on each side to make the bow.
-
5
Draw four circles down the center of the shirt to a point about half the length of the T-shirt. Use a ruler to make sure these circles remain centered down the shirt. This forms the buttons.
-
6
Draw a large "V" shape in the center of the shirt. The top ends of this shape should lie beside the bow-tie on each side. This forms the opening of the tuxedo jacket.
-
7
Draw the right lapel of the tuxedo jacket. Start at a point on the collar to the right of the "V" shape. Make a large triangular shape for the top of the lapel. For the bottom of the lapel, extend a horizontal line outward to the right for a short distance. Draw a long arching line that curves to the right, extending beneath the horizontal line. Make this shape curve to meet the bottom of the "V." Repeat on the left side.

8
Fill in the lapels, bow-tie and buttons with black fabric paint. Hold the paint tube at a comfortable angle in your hand and use horizontal motions to apply the color. Make sure that the tip of the paint tube touches the T-shirt fabric as you paint.
-
9
Allow the T-shirt to dry for at least one day before wearing.
