How to Write a Sub-Lease Agreement

How to Write a Sub-Lease Agreement thumbnail
A sublease doesn't relieve a tenant from original rental obligations.

A sublease is an agreement to assume part of another party's rental contract. For example, a doctor signs a three-year lease for office space. He decides after two years to move his practice to another city. He can sublease the office space to another tenant for the final year of the lease. A sublease doesn't eliminate an original tenant's duties to a landlord, therefore, a tenant writing a sublease should take reasonable steps to protect his interests.
