How to Transfer My EPP Code to GoDaddy

Transferring a domain from one registrar to another requires the successful completion of several steps. Most of the steps involved are to protect the domain owner from unwittingly losing their domain to someone without rights to it. One key step is supplying the new domain registrar with the EPP authorization code that must be acquired from the current domain registrar. This unique code is only provided to the account owner or administrative contact for the domain.

  • Obtain the EPP code from the current registrar for the domain being transferred. Some registrars display the EPP authorization code in the domain control panel, while others send an email upon request to the domain's administrative contact.

  • Log in to the GoDaddy Account Manager.

  • Select "Domain Manager" from the "My Products" section of the Account Manager.

  • Select "Domain Transfers" to display the current status of pending domain transfers.

  • Click the "Authorization Code" link for the domain being transferred to GoDaddy and enter the EPP authorization code provided by the current registrar.

  • Save the change and exit from the Account Manager.

Tips & Warnings

  • Log in to the GoDaddy Account Manager and check the status of the pending transfer once every day or so until the transfer is complete. Any problems with the transfer will be noted and can be resolved by contacting GoDaddy or the current registrar.
