How to View Application Updates on the New Facebook
Just as with applications you download to your computer's desktop, promptly downloading available updates to applications in Facebook is essential to their proper function. If you use several Facebook applications, however, needing to check updates manually is time-consuming and inefficient. Modify your Facebook account settings so you receive email notifications when updates to applications are available for download.

Sign on to Facebook. Click the "Account" drop-down menu in the upper-right corner and choose "Account Settings."

Select the "Notifications" tab. Choose "Other Apps" from the right sidebar. Tick the boxes next to all the apps from which you want to receive Facebook email notifications, then click "Save Changes."

Click the links with notifications that inform you of application updates. View each update on a case-by-case basis and decide whether to download it.

Tips & Warnings
Applications notifications don't only inform you about updates. If one of more applications send you an excessive amount of notifications, disable the feature for those apps and look for updates manually.
