How to Use TweetDeck in Windows

The TweetDeck application for Windows allows you to view multiple Twitter streams at once on your desktop. You can view your main Twitter feed, search feeds, your Facebook stream and special Twitter lists. If you frequently use Twitter, TweetDeck might be more convenient than opening the Twitter website to view one stream at a time. To use TweetDeck in Windows, you just need to decide what streams you want to see and add them to the program.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to tweetdeck.com/desktop/ to download and install the program.

    • 2

Open TweetDeck and enter your Twitter account username and password. This sets up your first TweetDeck column, which is your main Twitter feed.

    • 3

Click the circle with a plus sign in it at the top of TweetDeck. This is the add column button. From here, you can add new streams that you want to see. You can add streams from Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Buzz, Foursquare and Myspace. You will have to enter the appropriate account details for the non-Twitter services to use them. You can also determine the details that you want to see in the streams. For example, you can set a Facebook stream to show your entire news feed or just new pictures. To set different options for different services, just click the button next to the option you want. The options are clearly named according to what they do.

Click the "Add Column" button again to add another column if you want. You can add as many columns as you want. However, you can only see five on your screen at once without scrolling. You can add and remove columns whenever you want.

Type a tweet into the update window and press "Enter" to send tweets. The same tweeting rules and limits apply on TweetDeck as they do on Twitter.
