You can customize the toolbar with a click of the mouse.

Whether you're a computer genius or still figuring out the mouse, changing and manipulating the bottom toolbar on your computer screen takes very little time. Both Macs and PCs feature toolbars at the bottom of the screen. Through these toolbars you can access applications, and you can customize the toolbars to your own specifications. Making your own toolbar is simply a matter of knowing where to look for the customization options.

Instructions

  1. Mac

    • 1

Click on "Finder" in the Dock -- this is the name for the bottom toolbar on the Mac.

    • 2

Open the "Applications" folder, then open "System Preferences."

    • 3

Click on "Dock." From here you can adjust the size using a slider scale, customize the magnification of applications as you scroll over them and even adjust the position and orientation of the Dock on your screen.

    • 4

Right-click on an application in the Dock and select "Remove from Dock" to remove it. To place a new application in the Dock, simply drag and drop the application's icon.

    PC

    • 5

Right-click the taskbar -- this is the name of the strip along the bottom of your screen on a PC -- and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar."

    • 6

Right-click the taskbar, choose "Toolbars" and select from the options to add a toolbar to the taskbar. For example, you may add a "Desktop" toolbar that allows you access to your desktop icons from the taskbar.

    • 7

Click the taskbar and hold down the mouse button. Drag the taskbar to where you want it to change its orientation -- for example, drag and drop the taskbar to the left of your screen to orient it along that side.
