Check your router's MTU settings. These settings can be found in the "Advanced" or "WAN" section of your router's configuration page. Readjusting the MTU settings to a value of 1492 may help improve bandwidth throughput.

Set the amount of bandwidth reserved for QoS to zero. Enter "gpedit.msc" into the search bar in the "Start" menu and press "Enter" to access the "Local Group Policy Editor." Select "Administrative Templates" under "Computer Configuration," double-click on "QoS Packet Scheduler" and then double-click "Limit Reservable Bandwidth." Set the function to "Enabled" and enter a value of "0" under "Bandwidth Limit." Click "OK" to save your changes.

Replace your wireless router's antenna with a "high-gain" unidirectional antenna, if possible. A unidirectional antenna provides a stronger signal and higher bandwidth throughput than most stock antennas. Keep in mind that some routers do not feature a removal antenna. Remember to place your router as close to the center of the room as possible and away from walls and metal objects.

Replace your Internet Service Provider's modem and other networking equipment. This step should be taken when all others have failed. Older equipment operating on outdated firmware can cause bandwidth throughput issues. If possible, update your modem and other equipment with the latest firmware available and look for any signs of improvement before considering replacement.
