How to Open Bit Torrent Files in Windows XP

BitTorrent is a network protocol that allows large files to be transferred quickly over the Internet. Using BitTorrent, each person sharing a file devotes a small portion of her bandwidth to transferring the file to people who need it. You can use BitTorrent to receive a large file quickly if many people are sharing it. If your Windows XP computer is unable to open BitTorrent files, you may not have a BitTorrent client installed, or you may need to correct the program association for Torrent files.

Confirm that your computer has a BitTorrent client installed. A BitTorrent client is a program that has the ability to open Torrent files and download the associated data using the BitTorrent protocol. If your computer does not have a BitTorrent client, three free clients that you can download are Vuze, uTorrent and BitComet.
