How to Tie a Pirate Hat
No pirate is complete without his head cover. Whether he wears a bandana, a hat or a bandana and a hat like Captain Jack Sparrow, he needs something to keep his head warm and the sweat from his eyes. There are two types of pirate bandana styles. One offers total head cover. The other style leaves the top of the head exposed for cool breezes.

Bandana Hat with Head Covering
-
1
Lay one bandana flat on a table.
-
2
Fold the bandana in half by taking one corner and laying it on top of the corner diagonally across to make a triangle. Pat down to flatten.
-
-
3
Lay the triangle on top of the pirate's head with all points pointing away from his face. Smooth with both hands the bottom of the triangle where the edge folds against the forehead. Follow the fabric to two ending points behind the head. Hold these points between the thumb and forefinger of each hand. Tie both ends into a knot behind the head. Tuck the remaining point underneath the knot.

4
Lay one bandana flat on the table.
-
5
Fold two diagonal corners to meet in the middle of the bandana. Then fold the outer edges in until the bandana looks like one long rectangle with two points.
-
6
Fold a second bandana in the same way.
-
7
Flatten one bandana against the pirate's forehead and securely tie in a knot at the back of his head. You also may start over one ear to tie over the other ear like Captain Jack Sparrow.
-
8
Loop the second bandana under the knot so that the band hangs over the knot. Tie the ends from the first knot over the second band.
