How to Conduct a Bible Study Group Meeting
Among Christians, bible study is often a greatly anticipated event. Successful bible study groups invite people to worship together as well as bond over a common love of Christ. Organizing the group requires communication, research and people skills. Continuous good turnouts are always reflected through the level of interest, entertainment and spiritual enlightenment during the study group.

1
Prepare two weeks in advance. Choose the time and location for the meeting. Remind attendees to bring not only their bibles but writing material to explore scripture through freewriting before group discussion. Make RSVP mandatory for the event so you are properly prepared to accommodate with refreshments.
-
2
Do your homework. Get biblical topics from online references, which you can explore through different verses and books of the bible. Make notes to support your ideas and to begin discussion.
-
-
3
Start the group with introductions and a prayer to open their hearts to really understanding the scripture.
-
4
Take the vote and see if the group would rather begin the session with one particular idea and explore this with multiple biblical quotes and parables or see if they would like to stick to one passage and decipher it.
-
5
Have all the attendees write down what they feel about the reading. The freewriting exercise allows people to open up to themselves before sharing intimate thoughts with the group.
-
6
Lead the group in discussion. Make sure only one person speaks at a time and everyone respects others' opinions.
-
7
Play biblical charades based on the lessons or use an generated online quiz based on the study to make it more interactive. This time is spent eating, socializing and reflecting about God with one another.
-
8
End the group with a prayer. Have the facilitator lead the group with an Our Father, then go around and ask everyone to chime in with their special intentions and prayers. Finish up strong with thanking God for uniting this group.
-
9
Let everyone know when the next bible study group will take place. Make sure you have everyone's current phone numbers and email addresses.
-
10
Hand out an advance copy of what the next group will discuss, so people can prepare on their own before the next study.

Tips & Warnings
Always be prepared. Have back-up scriptures ready if you finish early. Have a bible dictionary on hand for reference. Have extra bibles available.
As a leader, do not preach but facilitate. Stop tangents before they confuse the group. Do not let one person dominate the discussion.
