Whether they are preschoolers or kids studying dinosaurs in the early grades of elementary school, dinosaurs are fascinating to young children. 1
Download an assortment of puzzles, word games, coloring pages and information pages about dinosaurs, and print on white paper. Choose the pages that are age-appropriate for your child. Include fact sheets about various dinosaurs that you can read with your child, as well as simple line drawings for kids to color with crayons, paint, colored pencils or markers. There are crossword puzzles, words to unscramble and word search games you and your child can enjoy together, as well as activities for locating words in long dinosaur names. Add simple poem-writing pages and fill-in fact sheets for first- and second-grade children to encourage the writing skills they are learning in school. Print additional color images of dinosaurs with comparisons to each other and humans to add to the book as references.

2
Assemble the pages in a logical order. Place some coloring pages between skill sheets and information pages to make the book fun for kids. Leave a few blank pages for kids to create their own pictures or for stamping and adding stickers.

3
Cut construction paper or scrapbooking paper to fit the pages. Use decorative scissors to add fancy edges to the papers.
-
4
Glue the printed pages to the fronts and backs of construction or scrapbooking papers, leaving room along the left edge or top to attach the pages together.
-
5
Make a front and back cover for the book with the papers, and glue on images, write a title for the book and decorate with stickers or stamps.
-
6
Assemble the pages, and punch three holes along the left edge or the top of the book with a hole punch. Add grommets if desired for stability.
-
7
Thread the two ends of the yarn or cording from the outside of the book through the first and third holes, then lace it back through the center hole. Check that you can easily open and close the pages. Tie a knot and bow to secure.
-
8
Provide kids with crayons, watercolor or tempera paints, colored pencils or markers to color the images and complete some of the puzzles and games. Give them dinosaur stickers, stamps and ink pads to further embellish the book.
