Instructions

    • 1

Brush out your hair using a prong hairbrush. This will remove any tangling in your hair.

    • 2

Separate the top third of your hair into three different strands using a comb.

    • 3

Hold two of the strands of hair in your right hand and the remaining strand in your left. Fold the left strand in-between the two right strands by placing it underneath the other two. A standard braid would have the left strand folded on top of the other two.

    • 4

Gather the two strands on the far left back into your left hand. Then fold the remaining strand in your right hand in-between the two in your left hand. Fold the strand underneath the other two, as before.

    • 5

Gather the two strands on the far right back into your right hand. Gather a 1 inch portion of hair from the right side of your head and incorporate it into the strand positioned in the center of the three. Fold the extra hair underneath the strands to maintain the inverted look of the braid.

    • 6

Braid the hair as usual one turn, keeping the folded strand underneath the other two.

    • 7

Gather a 1 inch portion of hair from the left side of your head, and incorporate it into the strand positioned in the center of the three. Fold the extra hair underneath the strands, as before, to maintain the inverted look of the braid.
