How to Make Likes & Pages Private on Facebook

Facebook profiles often contain very personal information. As you explore this social networking site, you can share your interests with other people. When you click the "Like" button, people viewing that image, link or post will see your name underneath the "Likes" heading. Users also have the option to see what pages you subscribe to, such as sports team, business, music and video pages. If you prefer to keep this information private, you can limit who sees this personal information on Facebook.

  • Open your Web browser, visit and log in to your Facebook account.

  • Click the "Account" drop down box in the upper right corner, then click "Privacy Settings."

  • Click "View Settings" underneath the "Connecting on Facebook" heading located near the top of the "Privacy Settings" page.

  • Click the drop-down box next to "See your likes, activities and other connections." By default, this drop-down box is usually set to "Everyone." This basic Facebook setting controls who can see your "likes" as well as which pages and activities you subscribe to.

  • Click on your desired privacy options. You can select "Everyone," "Friends of Friends and Networks," "Friends and Networks," "Friends of Friends" or "Friends Only." If you want to allow only a selected friend or group to see your likes and pages, click "Customize" to choose the individual users who are allowed to see your information.
