How Do I Install My Bookmarks on Firefox?

How Do I Install My Bookmarks on Firefox? thumbnail
You can export your bookmarks to Mozilla Firefox.

Web browsers allow you to create bookmarks for the websites you might need to revisit in the future. For each bookmark, the browser saves the page's title and its Web address. When you select the title in a list of bookmarks, the browser loads the page without you needing to remember its address. Bookmarks are stored on on the hard drive, but each browser has its own special format to encode them. You can install all bookmarks you created on another Web browser on your installation of Mozilla Firefox.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the Web browser that currently has the bookmarks you want to install on Firefox.

    • 2

Instruct the browser to export all its bookmarks to a file. When a browser exports its bookmarks, it uses an HTML-based format that (unlike the browser's native format for storing its bookmarks on disk) can be understood by other browsers. The specific way of performing this step depends on the browser. For example, for Internet Explorer, click "File," then "Import and Export." Select "Export to a File," then click "Next." Select the "Favorites" folder at the top of the list, then click "Next," then click "Export."

    • 3

Launch Firefox by double-clicking on its desktop icon.

    • 4

Click "Bookmarks," then select "Organize Bookmarks." Click "Import and Backup" on the newly opened window, then select "Import HTML." Select "From an HTML File," click "Next," click on the file where the other browser exported its bookmarks and click "Open." After a short delay that depends on the number of bookmarks, Firefox will install the same exact set of bookmarks extant on the original browser.
