How to Create a Fan Only Viewable Page on Facebook

With a minute or two of menu navigation, you can make a page viewable only to fans.

A Facebook "page" provides a virtual space for businesses, bands and activities to gain followers and promote interests. Unlike personal profiles, Facebook pages have "fans" rather than "friends." These fans get updates from the page, post content to the page wall, and they often invite other people to join the group. If you want your page to be relatively exclusive, you can prevent outsiders from viewing the page's content. By changing the page's privacy settings, you can make it viewable only to fans.

Instructions

Creating the Page

1. Log into your Facebook account. Creating a new page takes a few minutes from your normal Facebook account. If you already have a Facebook page setup, skip to the "Adjusting Privacy Settings" section.

2. Visit facebook.com/pages while you are still logged into Facebook.

3. Click "Create Page" near the top right-hand corner of the screen.

4. Click on a related category for your page from the options provided on your screen.

5. Enter a name for your page, then click the "I agree to Facebook Terms and Conditions" check box.

6. Click "Get Started." You are redirected to your brand new page, and you are logged in as the administrator. In the future, you can access your page using the navigation icons on the left-hand side of your main personal profile.

7. Upload photos, posts and other details while viewing the page as the administrator. The initial page is blank until you add text or images using the blue "Upload" buttons found on your screen.

Adjusting Privacy Settings

1. Log into your Facebook account and click on your page from the left-hand column.

2. Click "Edit Page," found in the upper right-hand corner.

3. Click to deselect the "Public" option under viewability. To further restrict the page, you can also select the "Only admins can see this page" check box. You can also restrict your page to fans of certain ages by clicking on the "Age restrictions" drop down box.

4. Click on the blue "Save Changes" option at the bottom of the screen.
