How to: Halloween Stitched Lips
Halloween is the one holiday where you can let your creative juices really flow; most adults enjoy dressing up to celebrate as much as kids. Whether you buy a pre-made costume from a costume shop or you create your own with thrift store finds and crafty sewing skills, you probably have to add some sort of makeup to your costume. Some costumes, such as scarecrows, scary dead bodies and ghouls require you to apply makeup that makes your lips look as if though they've been sewn, or stitched, closed. Fortunately for Halloween enthusiasts, creating the stitched lip look is simple.

1
Purchase black Halloween makeup from any Halloween store or department store's Halloween section. You want to find black makeup that's safe to apply to your face -- especially since you are applying it so close to your mouth. Black eyeliner and black lipstick are safe for decorating your face.

2
Stand in front of a mirror to apply your makeup. Before you draw on your stitched lips, apply the base coat or foundation of your makeup since you will draw your lips over it.

Close your lips and apply your stitches. Start at the far left (or right) side of your lips and begin applying your stitches by drawing the letter "X" over your lips. Start drawing your stitches on the skin above your lips, skipping your actual lips. Continue the "X" below your lips. Space your stitches out a few millimeters and continue the process until you've reached the opposite side of your mouth.
